Activities & Service

The ideals of the Ashram are purely religious, spiritual and humanitarian and it has no connection with politics. The institution is not an orphanage and no connection with adoption.

It's Activities are limited to:

• Alleviate human sufferings especially the women folk of the society.
• Home for women seeking social security and sheltered life of austerity and spiritual discipline.
• Spiritual upliftment of the people.
• Proper education of girls.
• Charitable dispensary for sick and poor people.

Donation and the facilities available

Donations are accepted from interested devotees. Cheque/Draft may be drawn in favour of "SARADESWARI ASHRAM" All donations to Shri Shri Saradeswari Ashram & Free Hindu Girls' School are exempted from income tax under Section 80G of the IT act, 1961(Applicable only to Indian donors)

Genesis & Brief History

The Shri Shri Saradeswari Ashram & Free Hindu Girls' School was established by a most tremendous personage amongst the entourage of Sri Sri Ramakrishna's Lila, known to us today simply and affectionately as "Gauri Ma." Gauri Ma was a direct disciple of Sri Sri Ramakrishna and a close companion of Sri Sri Sarada Devi.

Sannyasini(Nun) Sri Sri Gauri Puri Devi in 1895 very modestly established and started Brahmacharya Ashram with Hindu Balika Vidyalaya including boarding facilities under the name “Shri Shri Saradeswari Ashram and Hindu Girls’ School” adjacent to the holy river Ganga at Barrackpore(Palta), North 24-parganas, West Bengal.
